Gun Belts

Do I Really Need a Gun Belt?

This is a question that we hear over and over. The answer is a resounding YES!

The next question sure to follow is "why?" " What's wrong with my belt from Wal-mart?" Nothing really, except that it's not a true gun belt designed to carry a weapon.

A good gun belt is a fundamental necessity to the proper wear and performance of a holster. A true gun belt is different from a standard dress belt. A true gun belt is going to be:

  • Designed to be rigid and strong in the areas necessary to properly support a holster and any accessories.
  • Thicker than a normal belt. This extra thickness equates to additional strength and support.
  • Significantly more durable that a standard belt. Most standard belts are made of a thinner leather. Over time and use, the thinner leather tends to break down. This break down causes the belt to stretch and sag. Have you ever put a regular belt on only to find that you now have to move the buckle in to the next closest hole? If you haven't lost weight, then you're probably experiencing the stretching referenced above.

Any of the gun belts listed below will perform well in the areas listed above, but we'll be glad to make a recommendation:

Leather gun belt - If you want a really nice leather belt, then we highly recommend the the new Gunner's Alley Belt seen below. It's a double thick gunbelt handcrafted from two strips of bull hide, and is an excellent value for the money. If the GA belt is a little too rich for your blood, then take a look at any of the Don Hume listed below.

Nylon gun belt - In our opinion, the Wilderness belt seen below is the finest nylon belt on the market today. You'll see some knock-off copies, but nothing beats the original. With an 8,000 + lb tensile strength, the Wilderness provides unmatched strength and support.
